Coffee and Other Musings

I gave up coffee.  It's awful.  That's an awful way to start a blog post too, but I don't even care.  I'd probably have a better beginning if I'd had my coffee.  Coffee, as far as I know (I don't know, I'm making this sentence up) is not that bad for you.  What is bad about my drinking coffee is that I take it with two splendas and 3 tablespoons of creamer.

In case that doesn't mean anything to you, look at this picture...

See that coffee on the right?  NEEDS MORE CREAM.

Some people drink coffee black, I drink it white.  And that my friends is a good 100 calories for every small mug of coffee.  Some days half the calories I consume at work are in coffee creamer and that cannot be good.

In better news, I'm at 187.3 this morning.  What does that mean?  It means I'm over 1/4 of the way to my birthday goal!  So that's a small victory right??  I bought a couple of cute frames for my desk - pictures will follow as soon as I get some photos in them!

In even BETTER news, the manipulation of my friends to help me in my diet is working!  I am looking forward to a fabulous night of dress trying-on and dinner at the home of one of my most wonderful friends, Amanda.  A combination of the two things most on my mind, being healthy and my masquerade ball - how can I help but be happy.

Oh my gosh, and in EVEN BETTER news, Husbandcake is home tonight.  Home from a few days in Washington DC, where he was having some kind of training.

It's the little things in life that make you feel good.  What's making everyone else feel good today?

I'm sorry you miss coffee. I can't stand the stuff but I am pretty sure the love you have is equal to my Diet Dew. So I can feel your pain. However, I am not neurotic enough to give up my dew. EVER!

I went to the gym this morning and that was a good way to start the day. :)

I don't know whether you are "disciplined" or sadistic! I always say, "I like my coffee sweet and blonde, just like me." Congratulations on your success.

Ahh yes, I like my coffee rather light as well. I don't usually drink coffee. My husband picks me up a 20 oz single shot mocha latte once a week. Other than that, I only have coffee when I visit my mom (three times a year).

Congratulations on the new items for the desk, your motivational desk gifts are working as the weight is coming off. Yey!

A masquerade ball? That sounds like a blast. Have fun with all the planning and dress-trying-ons.

There's not enough willpower in the world to make me give up my coffee - but I drink it with a small spoon of fat-free creamer (10calories a tsp) and that's it.

All in all, about 100 calories a day comes from my coffee - but it's a price I'm willing to pay..LOL

Kudos to you for being so strong.

Nooooooo!!!! Not the coffee!!!!

Yes, this coffee addict is grieving for you.

I use fat free half and half in my coffee. It is pretty good, is 40 calories for a 1/4 cup which makes for a fairly creamy cup of joe. Not white, but pretty yummy. I have learned to appreciate it. :D

That picture is... *drool*

I'm in the same boat that you're in...I gave up coffee when I started trying to lose weight. Doesn't mean I won't eventually have another one, but I'd rather eat my calories than drink them! Can't wait to see the pictures of your new desk bling! And how exciting is it to have a ball for your birthday! Have fun!

Oh boy! No coffee? Is there a world without coffee? LOL

This is just a suggestion because I know what you mean about drinking your coffee white! Could you use 2% milk instead of 1/2 and 1/2 then you're getting a dairy in, and making a latte instead?

Oh, and I do see the coffee on the right, and yes, I agree it needs more cream....but I'm more concerned about the pastry thingee on the left...what's THAT? YUM!

Have I told you how happy I am to see you back?!

Hugs!

Mmmmm I don't like coffee but that pastry/biscuit looks divine! lol

As for what's making me feel good today I lost 3.5lb the past few weeks despite my body conspiring against me and seizing up most days lol...

Yeay for things that make us feel better :)

Oh ladies, oh wonderful ladies...it is Friday. It is Friday and I haven't had coffee all week. BUT I've decided to give in on the weekends. Keep it to one cup a day or a tall if I happen by a Starbucks (all right if I get in my car and MAKE myself happen by a Starbucks).

@Natalia, you're too sweet. I wish I could use milk but with the whole not liking the taste of coffee thing I gotta stick with my caramel creamer! It's fat free but...still way too many calories for as much as I drink!!
